Accreditation Award

In July 2010 PRADET negotiated accreditation with the East Timor Government - Ministry of Health, Institute of Health Sciences, to run a training program for health workers to perform medical forensic examination of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse, using a medical forensic protocol produced by PRADET.  The protocol is written in three languages, Tetum, English and Portugese and is one document only, providing capacity to document injuries and other evidence for adults and children, female and male.  This provides important evidence for a potential court case.
The training is in three parts and trainees must have a minimum of five years experience in the field as a doctor and/or midwife.  The three parts consist of

• five days theory

• one week practicum in Fatin Hakmaktek

• follow up workshop at each of the referral hospitals

  This is a very significant acknowledgement from government to support PRADET.
